Understanding Mpox: Challenges, Solutions, & Amref’s Response

Since 2022, Mpox cases have increased across the continent, with deeply concerning statistics as of July 2024 due to the emergence of a more virulent strain. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and the Africa Centers for Disease Prevention (Africa CDC) has reported a total of 37,583 cases and 1,451 deaths across 15 African countries.
