What is telemedicine? What is telehealth? Who should use telemedicine? What are the pros and cons? Board-Certified Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr. Jordan Wagner, explains everything you need to know about telemedicine.

Although many industries have suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine is one sector that is seeing a huge surge of new interest. The demand for virtual doctor’s appointments has been growing as lockdowns in many states have forced doctor’s offices to be a bit more limited about their patient intake and experience and as people continue to stay home. So what exactly is telemedicine? Does health insurance cover it? Do all doctors offer telemedicine? How do I know if telemedicine is right for me? Are there any downsides? Today, we’re going to be going over all of that. Telemedicine allows you to discuss symptoms, medical issues, and more with a healthcare provider in realtime. Using telemedicine, you can receive a diagnosis, learn your treatment options, and get a prescription. In cases where it’s necessary, healthcare providers can even monitor readings from medical devices remotely to keep an eye on your condition.
