This is so exciting!  You have a wonderful swarm inhabiting the Grand Kids Log Hive and in fact, there was competition for taking up residence!  Congratulations and keep up the wonderful bee guardianship!

I thought about it, but at the time, I just didn't want to risk the 'inside swarm' getting mixed up in all the excitement. In retrospect, I wish I had hived them. A week later, we got another swarm for the Lang...an even bigger one of about two and a half 5 gallon buckets, so it all worked out.

I love that you let the hives come and go as they please rather than forcing them in a cramped box.

Great idea. Just moments before you mentioned Nightmares, I was a thinking of my youngest grandson SCREAMING if this was his face... funny.  This turned out great.

I can't believe you didn't hive the extra swarm into the langstroth or the warre hive instead of letting them leave.

I am getting seriously interested in bee keeping and have been following along with you as you go. I even know that if that Green Warre hive in the tree is still alive and well as this video indicates... then it is in the beginning of it's third season. Surviving two Winters in just that single tiny box. Am I correct?
