Lyrics

Oh, when I was a small boy
Well, I could see the magic in a day
Oh, but now I'm just a poor boy;
Well maybe it's the price you have to pay
If you lock your dreams away
If no-one wants to listen
What's the story?
I wish I'd been a minstrel
Just think of all the maidens I'd recall
Oh, I wish I'd been a gypsy
Then maybe I could read the crystal ball
'Cause surrounded by these walls
Just makes me feel uneasy

I said: Hey, Sister Moonshine
Won't you send me a little sun?
I said: Hey, Sister Moonshine
I'm a stranger to ev'ryone

So make us all laugh, make us all cry
Make us all give, make us all try
Give us the secret show us the lie
We'll strike up the music and light up the sky

Oh, if I was a lion
Well I could be the king of all the plain
Oh, and if I was an eagle
Well maybe I could fly above the rain
Fly above the pain
But I know I'm only fooling
I said: Hey, Sister Moonshine
Won't you send me a little sun?
I said: Hey, Sister Moonshine
I'm a stranger to ev'ryone

Make us all laugh, make us all cry
Make us all give, make us all try
Give us the secret show us the light
We'll strike up the music and light up the sky

I said: Hey Sister Moonshine
I said: Hey Sister Moonshine
(repeat and fade)

When I was in my teens and caught up in a terrible depression -- thinking of suicide, this song slowly healed me and helped me find my spiritual path. Its a long story indeed. Life became exciting after. Now I am 61. Thanks to Roger I am still around and healthy.

Love the album cover. It captures this masterpiece perfectly. I've spent hours staring at this cover. The bright yellow record jacket is the icing on the cake that represents coming out of the darkness.

Dougie Thomson on bass is the best. His groove just drives Supertramp to another level.

bought this (on cassette!) back in 76...never gets tired. My room mate hated my taste in music then. Bumped into him last month back in UK ...he loves Supertramp now - older & wiser lol

Crisis what crisis, Even in the quietest moments and Crime of the century are all great albums. I would listen to them all in a row first side A then side B. No need to know any songs by name just play the whole Album. Saw Roger Hodgson in concert a few years ago he played all the songs I wanted to hear great concert.

Français:
La meilleure chanson de l'album Crisis? What Crisis? après Ain't Nobody But Me. What Crisis?.

I could really post a comment like this on _any_ Supertramp song, but the arrangement and production is impeccable. For all their differences, the synergy between Rick and Roger's voices and guitar/keyboards is just magical. The guitar solos are concise, almost restrained, but are so uplifting. Bob's broadening of the pattern in the 3rd verse really moves things along (very much like Ringo's in the last verse of Let It Be), and Dougie's deceptively simple bass means you feel the whole thing from feet to head. Lastly, isn't that a recorder that John solos on near the end? or a penny whistle? Who would have imagined such an instrument ever being used so danceably in a rock song?

Probably my fave Supertramp song, if I was forced to choose.
