I was intrigued which language to learn for backend web development. I went for python.

Must admit python may not be super popular for web development but it’s django framework is so much structured, well sorted, documented anyone can fall for it.

I'm a web developer, so what I'm really interested in is the web programming language of the year.

Python excels because it can be used in various fields, and is high level. However, if you don't work in various fields, or can be bothered learning the best tool for the job, it's better to pick more tailored languages.
