Cicades are nice to humans...just not to their plants so much...I just want to know how they know that there will be so many of them.

My hamster (32 months old now) eats cicadas every summer. I can find and catch many cicadas in the neighborhood every summer. But I have never seen that American cicada, brood X. Interesting.

Japanese beetle is not common in Tokyo. The beetle 🪲 most commonly and easily seen similar to Japanese beetle you are talking about here are beetles that are entirely emerald and are entirely brown and stinky bug.
