What Does the Sun SOUND Like?

Listen to this. Scientists just recorded these “sounds” COMING FROM THE SUN!

They were recorded by the Parker Solar Probe, which is traveling closer to the sun than any spacecraft ever before. But if you thought - hey, you can’t hear things in space, there’s no air, you’re right! The “sounds” are really vibrations of electric and magnetic fields that scientists converted into sound waves. Here's what they mean...

Scientists have been turning space data into sound for decades as a way to help us pick out things we don’t notice in raw data. And this new probe is gathering a whole new symphony from the sun for us to learn from…

Take me to the sun. I want to hear them for myself. Make sure to take me there at night when the sun's turned off so that it doesn't burn me.

As a composer, being able to take these sounds, and use it to create different sounds for a synthesizer effect would be awesome!

It’s beautiful but I wish news media would make it blatantly clear that these “sounds” are synthesized from things that aren’t actually sounds so it may sound eerie and even sometimes like some sci-fi life sounds but they aren’t that. They’re not even sounds.

That solar wind sounds like relaxing music for stress relief that I used to listen when I have insomnia.

Sounds are the vibration of molecules; hypothetically, a Thermometer is capable of recording Sound, since thermometers measure the excitations of molecules, which is just another way of saying that the molecules are vibrating. E=mc².

I love how music is literally everywhere you go. You just have to be willing to listen to it. As an ex professional opera singer it’s literally all I hear. My elementary school song literally said “there’s rhythm on the inside (meaning inside your body) and rhythm on the streets oh belinder power has a powerful beat” I was literally raised around music and it’s so beautiful from the birds chirping to the wind whistling. (And for the people complaining about how she literally said it’s not music I know it’s not actually music it’s frequency. But frequencies are exactly what sounds comes from.) I was mainly saying that there are frequencies that can sound like music if you’re willing to listen.

That third one, the hissing sound, at the beginning was the Tardis. The probe just picked up the Doctor's tardis going by.
