I've seen so much of this on the water. I was starboard in a bayou when another boat was coming head on to my boad. I backed off on the throttle and got off the step. The other boat moved over to starboard and as he past to my port side he gave me a dirty look like I did something wrong then continued on. There was no way or time to explain he should have been starboard of the channel. Sometimes you just have to let stupid be stupid. My dad is a Navy veteran, Coast Guard Auxiliary and Iberia Parish Sheriff Department Water Rescue. This is the man who raised me on the water. The Navy Regulations book and Coast Guard Regulations book was always around the house. Any time we made an infraction this punishment was severe. We learned the rules of the road at an early age. Most people with boats weren't raised that way and don't care about rules and regulations.

Good to know the rules and commendable, but even wiser to realize just because your right, doesn't mean you should continue with your right when encountering a circumstance. Better to yield and be safe than push your "right" and have a negative outcome. Enjoy those crispy fries. Smart move!
