Just bought this today as my first quadcopter. Love the hell out of it already. As someone who's never done this before, it was easy to pick up and learn, and controls great. And the ability to put it into fast and expert mode gives me room to grow.

I settled on the Alias based on this vid and I'm quite happy with the purchase! I'm a beginner, bought an extra battery and kept playing with this thing. It's quite durable so it's been forgiving. It's so stable, I've flown it around my living room with tight control. Thanks Ryan for recommending this thing. Totally worth it.

Got mine yesterday, nicely delivered from Hobby Pro in Miami (normal street price - $20 cheaper than Amazon, great service, and excellent prices on batteries and spare parts).  Nice indoor hovering tonight to amuse my cats, only needed a small amount of trimming right out of the box.  More responsive than my 1SQ v-cam, with bigger blades and more power - less "bobbing" trying to control the altitude indoors.  Only problem I had was fitting it back into the Styrofoam case that it came out of!  Eventually made the slots that hold the blades wider with a knife, so it all fit again.  Can't wait for some better weather to try it outdoors!  Thanks for your great review which (along with others, haven't seen a bad one yet) convinced me to get it!  It is very well made and everything I expected!

Hey Ryan your channel is the best. First place I always come to when looking for a review on a quad. I have wanted an Alias since I bought my first quad a Sky Viper Nano M200 that was about 5 months ago, but some how I always talked myself out of it and bought something else, well last night I finally bit my tongue and bought one and picked it up at the local hobby shop. Unfortuantely it was monsoon raining but as soon as it stopped I ran outside and got in a quick session and gosh darnit what was I waiting for, this thing is so much fun. I rank it right up there with my Blade 200QX. The blade obviously has more power but this guy is a blast to whip back and forth. Like I said i just got it last night so I haven't pushed it to the limits but I am excited to fly more and also start customizing it. I got a pair of Dark Motors on the way this will be my second pair I have a pair on my Hubsan H107D Tenergy Special All Black Edition. but I have a feeling this guy will surpass it in sheer excitement. I just want to say thank you for all the great reviews and check out my channel if you get a minute. Its still rough this is my first Youtube Channel i'm migrating over from the blogosphere to the vlogworld.

I've had one of these for several months and absolutely love it. I had no idea about the swappable pads/sticks, though. The pads were my biggest complaint about the transmitter. I looked in the box and sure enough, it does come with sticks! Just swapped them out and the controls feel so much better.

@Flyin' Ryan RC,  Wow! I'm sold. After seeing your video I'm getting this one for my first quad copter. I was watching other videos before I came across yours on what to get for my first quad copter. Thanks for the review it was real helpful.

Thanks so much for the crash tests - that was a main concern. Getting one tomorrow - had much fun with my little Estes nano quad, but time to step up my game, so to speak.

Ryan, I am looking into the möbius action cam and do you think a 32gig class 4 sand disk card is good for it?

This was a great review. I only just got started with this hobby, and picked up the tiny little X4 to get the hang of basic controls (and what a nice little gizmo that thing is, I was really surprised at it), and have been agonizing over what the next step is, with so many different models out there, but now I think I've made up my mind. You did a good job explaining everything this one could do, and after seeing the reviews, I'll be going after this one, and then probably the Aton as well. Thanks again, this really made the decision easier!

Right now Traxxas has these on sale for $99.95, so if you want to go get one, now is the time.
I'm going to get one, it looks pretty stable, nice and quiet, and has a lot more that you can do with it stunt wise than most of the quads on the market for the same price.
Thanks for the video!

I'm going to follow your advise and buy this one over the Syma X1. I saw the promotional videos of the company and the durability test and it certainly can take quite a few hits.  Thank you for your advice.
You are very HUMBLE and gives the idea of an "average joe" flying the heli but let me tell you that the interior maneuvers you did in that small kitchen shows you are, again: ONE HELL OF A PILOT!!!

Hi, nice review, really wanting to get one now... Just wondering, could I get a higher mAp than 650 for the LeTrax Alias battery? Thanks

Never owned and or flew any copter before. Now am considering buying LaTrax Alias Quadcopter for my self at Christmas, how easy is it to fly, maneuver? Is it too complicated for beginners? Please advice. Thank you

Kit Wood, YouTube won't let me reply directly to your comment, so here is my reply:

I don't believe anyone has found a higher mAh battery that can fit in the Alias yet.  But, the stock battery gives quite long flight times.

Did my first outdoor Alias flight this evening in a light 5-7mph breeze, in the relative calm just after sunset.  WOW!  It flew beautifully, with plenty of power and stability to easily resist the wind even in "normal" out-of-the-box flight mode.  The lights made orientation even easier than I think it would have been in day light, and it was never hard to tell which way was which.

Yeah, I bounced it in for a couple of rough landings after getting it too high up over me (including one that landed hard in the street - ouch.  But no harm, no foul) - but after that was able to hover it twice for about 5 or 6 minutes each time, even getting better with some nice gentle landings the more I flew.  The low battery warning system on the transmitter worked perfectly too.  LaTrax hit this quadcopter out of the park - this thing is absolutely awesome!

(And no, I don't work for them - honest)!    :)

Thanks for the great review!. For the price range, would you recommend this one for a beginner 11 yo, or should I look at other options as well? From what I see, it looks easy to fly for a beginner. I think the pre-programmed stunts are great. What are your thoughts on the battery life compared to other models. Thanks!
