Fun fact: This song is technically 2 songs. The first one is Heil dir im Siegerkranz (the royal anthem of Prussia and later used as the anthem of the German Empire) and the 2nd song is Preußenlied, the proper anthem of Prussia until 1840.

Another fun fact: Prussia existed as a political entity until 1947, it's last Prime Minister being Hermann Göring (Yes, THAT Göring) from 1933 to 1945.

Definitely proud of my Prussian Heritage… especially given my great grandparents were both teenagers when Prussia was officially dissolved. (1914) I am always thankful I was able to know both of them for a time before their deaths.
