On the subject of pineapples:
I've had a pineapple plant started from a pineapple crown for 8 years. We named it "Perry" and have moved twice (one of those being an out of state move) and Perry has always traveled with us. He has slowly grown from a 4 inch crown to a 3 foot plant. This past move we decided the best place for Perry was our south facing backyard but for whatever reason our dog attacked and drug Perry all over. Poor Perry was looking pretty rough, but we re-soiled, fed, trimmed torn fronds, and relocated him to the front. He survived the attack and a year later survived the big Texas freeze safely tucked away in our garage. And after 8 years and many incidents later I'm excited to say Perry is fruiting! And even produced an offshoot that should start producing in a few years! I just wanted to share. We're proud of you, Perry!

This is not a joke, but she forgot to mention that the pineapple is special, it will not work in all types of pineapples. You can find this pineapple-like "comb pineapple" or " honey-drop-pineapple".

Here’s another way. Take the top off. HIT IT REALLY HARD ON THE COUNTER UNTIL IT SPITS INTO A MILLION PIECES. Then you have a “perfectly” cut pineapple

This is a special type of pineapple, pretty sure they're called snack pineapples. You can't do this with just any 'ol pineapple that you find at the grocery store.
