I was a DJ from 1980 to 1983 at a large rock station. This song was sent to us as a single and I think I played it about 6 times during my 6 hour shift from 6pm to midnight. After a few weeks, the program director came into the booth on a commercial and asked me why the hell I was playing this tune so much. I was studying music at that time and I told him...bring me something half as good as this and I'll stop playing Sneaker. Fortunately my Arb ratings were off the charts so he just turned around and left. I kept playing the song for another 3 to 4 weeks. I was heartbroken when the band just disappeared.

It was the Summer of 1982. I was seventeen and fell deeply in love. Luckily she felt the same way. This was our song. We are still best friends to this day. I can’t remember the last time I heard this song. #solid

A few years ago, I was out taking a walk in the evening. It had started to get dark before I reached home, and a haunting tune from the distant past started coming into my consciousness out of no where. Finally my brain started forming some of the lyrics, and I remembered it fully. It was this song. :)

The chorus is so interesting. Two bars of 4, then bars of 7/8, 6/8, and 7/8 again. May be notated differently but that is certainly the feel.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. Whats truly amazing is that this is beautifully rendered by a heavy metal band Sneaker. 80s music is just synonymous to real MUSIC .
