Fantastic drummer, Barriemore Barlow. He added so much to Tull's music during his time with the band. Bravo Barrie!

I find it so hard to believe that Ian Anderson didn't receive a traditional English Public School education. His poetry dives deeply into classical English stories and memes. He's an incredible writer and musician.

"Misty colors unfold, a back cloth cold, fine tapestry of silk; I draw around me like a cloak and soundless glide a 'drifting; on eddies whirled, in beech leaves furled, brown cold they fly; in the warm mesh of sunlight; drifting now, from a cloudless sky"...exquisite poetry.

I remember watching this live on TV, sitting with my Oma in her living room. What a wonderful memory.

Ive listened to music for many a year, but spirits be damned, Jethro Tull is still the best of em all. Ian may be dragging on, but then again, so am I.
There are worse ways to go than growing old and fat while listening to this, I guess.

This makes me even more excited for the 40th anniversary edition! This has always been one of my favorite Tull albums. It's a fall/winter tradition.

That outro still makes me tear up and I've been binging this album for like a month. Great music is pretty resilient against the laws of diminishing marginal utility.

mom and dad wouldn't let me see the storm watch tour when I was a hs freshman (shame on them) so we moved to Belgium where I finally caught them live on the broadsword tour, been full on ever since.

I don't think I've ever seen a JT video with Dave Pegg playing with Barrie Barlow, David Palmer and John Evan. It's got to be one of the last performances of Tull with Barlow, Palmer and Evan in the lineup before Ian made some personnel changes.

Back in the day, I lived and taught in a fairly remote Australian location and regularly played my favourite music VERY loudly, whilst tramping off into the near distance. Pink Floyd, Gong, Roy Harper...you name it. But "Old Ghosts" was a particular track, and whenever I've revisited these old haunts, it's this track that is the most haunting of reminders of a lonely year or two as a fish out of rural water. But a great comfort as well. Thank you Ian & the lads, you'll most likely never know how much your great music meant at the time.
