Dude Thanks so much for making it so simple. I’m so sick of those long videos that really get you no where. way to go!

Great video and sound, and you just confirmed "the importance of the musician behind the instrument" at your firsts notes, even without mixing at all .

Couldn't have found this channel at a better time. Thanks for all the great videos Jeff, they've been a huge help and definitely one of the best drumming channels out there!

Great video! I noticed two things. Typical input levels of logic would be -18 average. -6 is too hot. Secondly after you record, gain staging is not to bring down the volume of the channel strip but, average the signal to -18 in both mics by using gain staging methods (there are two - plugin and from the logic top left corner window). Good stuff! Cheers

Saw and liked this when you posted it. BUT last night I tracked some scratch drums in-house with the "single overhead+kick" setup.. and it gave me a picture of my dynamics that I'd never heard before. What a game changer! Keep it up friend, you're killing it.

Thanks for recording this video! That was awesome.

I made so many bad recordings myself until I found out that I really have to use less muffling, let that drum ring and breath, otherwise everything sounds muddy. Too much ring can be tamed, too less can not be fixed other than using samples and who wants that.

This I formation is priceless! Thank you bro, !!! I've been stressing over the PC and DAW part of this process.. I can build PC's but mac's aside from ram and storage are pretty much set. But I can build a small PC with a fast CPU, decent amount of ram, and I've got tons of storage already. So now it's just a matter of finding the right DAW to use.

and that all just 2 mic, cool, and awesome.
so thanks a lot, that so good information
i believe your sound so good because
1. your hit the drum perfect time, and dynamic (this is the root)
2. your drum tuning, not so low and not so hi
3. your mic position
4. your simple elegant mix (not to much)
and all only 2 mic hahaha
