My name is Jens Larsen, Danish Jazz Guitarist, and Educator. The videos on this channel will help you explore and enjoy Jazz. Some of it is how to play jazz guitar, but other videos are more on Music Theory like Jazz Chords or advice on how to practice and learn Jazz, on guitar or any other instrument.

The videos are mostly jazz guitar lessons, but also music theory, analysis of songs and videos on jazz guitars.

Hi Jens, From one great Dane to another, yes, I think a video on triad exercises and how to implement them into your playing is a fantastic idea. Thank you for being the best jazz guitar channel on youtube!

I put this one on pause, I gotta run to the store. When I get back I’m getting on it! I pretty much know my triads, this will be interesting to see how melodies are formed using them. I have a little understanding of it but I can see this will help. I usually comment while I’m watching a video and that’s the reason I’m typing this.

Great lesson! Just recently I have started to wrap my head around triads and can't think of anything more important to playing the guitar. Really important you SEE and KNOW where you are as you go thru all the different triads for a particular key. Thank you Jens!

Great topic. For triads on dominants, the 2 steps of thinking about the relative major scale then the triads that work from that are useful to understand the theory...but no one has time to do that in the middle of a solo - one way I simplify is to to just remember which triad fits which degree of the dominant chord you're on (play a major triad from the root, dim on the 3rd, min on 5th, Maj on 7th ..and for good measure min on the 6th )...next step is of course to internalise and forget everything as Miles said ;-)
