If you are given moment of inertia about an axis which happens to pass through COM, you can calculate moment of inertia about an axis parallel to the original one, by using parallel axis theorem.

you forgot to multiply the Is(com) by 1/2 since a disk is 1/2*M*r^2

i am so confused when we need apply parallel axis theorem.
i have done many questions but not one of those mention about which axis we need to consider.
i did most of them, and look at the answers and i still dont get it.
can u tell me how we can know when i need to apply PAT into equations please.
