Our daughter was murdered 4 years ago on 11 June 2015 and the trial is not over yet. On hearing the news about an hour after her death God gave me the assurance that she had gone to be with Him. On seeing her lifeless body (covered) I knew her soul had found peace in Jesus. I look forward to the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ when we will all meet again🙏🙏🙏

2 Cor 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Paul said it is better to be away from his body because then he would be with the Lord. This means that when we die we are not asleep. Maybe the body but not the soul.

We die and then go to the Resurrection. Once we are in God’s hands we are no longer bound by time like on earth. We just go right there. Hebrews 9:27

I still can not understand this. This scripture has made it clear to me that we are asleep until the second coming. Nowhere in here does it talk about the separation of soul and body. It just talks about us sleeping/living and then ALL saints will be gathered up to meet Him in the heavens. I haven’t found a pastor yet who can put this scripture to rest. If we die and go to heaven then why would Jesus call for us with a loud shout and a trumpet? How could we meet Him in the sky if we’re already with Him? The reason I lose the question is because pastors continue to talk about saints dying and going in to or going on to be with the Lord. According to this scripture they don’t depart from their bodies and go on just yet. I hesitate to say anything that could seem disparaging toward a pastor but if you watch Pastor Charles Stanley‘s YouTube video on the promises of God, at the very end he actually covers this scripture and I was stunned to hear him completely misled his congregation when he said that being “asleep“ was referring to when saints simply lie down at night to rest and then awaken the next morning. In my opinion nothing could be further from the truth and I wonder to this day why he spoke about something so misleading when in this scripture to be asleep clearly is referring to saints who have passed on and are in the grave, not saints who are sleeping in their beds and resting for the night. Pastor Stanley even went on to say to his congregation: “How could any minister be of any comfort to a grieving family if he had to tell them in a eulogy that they had no hope and that their loved ones were now in the grave?” Well, in my opinion they are asleep and do not know it. It’s not as though they are suffering. Our hope still remains in Christ. It sounded to me as though he was twisting scripture so that it would allow him to say things that would be more pleasant or comforting for bereaved families. You can’t take scriptures and bend them to your liking so they fit what you want to hear. Of course I would rather think of my dear sweet mother being in heaven with her Savior but if His plan is to have us asleep until He returns again then I know I can rest assured that she is not suffering while we are waiting for Him to come back for us.

Having said all that, I have to admit that I’m still completely lost on this scripture and it has really weighed on me for a very long time. I wish I could get clarity.

What the Lord has said and declared is literal! The dead shall rise, who died in Christ first. The reason we cannot precede them is because we will not have died. The dead is to glorify the power, love, and grace of the Holy Spirit, that you should believe and trust and love God with all your hearts. I tell you he shall call their bodies from the grave and meet with their everlasting souls and spirits in the air. Do not be afraid for he is the Lord our God blessed be his name for evermore!

Ecclesiastes 12:7—“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and" the spirit shall return unto God" who gave the spirits of the dead are with the Lord then are they going to accompany Jesus to receive their resurrected bodies? I had an out of body experience. I looked back and saw my old body empty. I raised my arm and had an arm, I had a new body but it looked different, kind of glowy particles but I had a body. If I had stayed in heaven would my spirit follow Jesus to receive the old body made new? I'm a bit confused about this. Maybe since we aren't God we don't have the true perception of how these events are going to take place. What matters is Jesus is coming and how he does it will be correct and perfect. How ever it's done I have faith it will be done. May Jesus come for us soon.

I am frustrated in that there seems to be no pastor or theologian who will plainly answer the question WHO ARE THE DEAD IN CHRIST? Are we dead in Christ when we die, or do we go to heaven. Logically, one cannot be in 2 places at the same time. It is my understanding, that when we die, our souls and spirits go to heaven, while our physical bodies lay in the earth, decomposing. Then our physical bodies will be resurrected and reunited with our soul when the rapture occurs. If this is an accurate statement, based on what I am hearing…why is it so difficult for an educator to make such a simple statement like this? It can be very confusing, even for those who have served God for many years, to understand this concept, do I go to heaven when I die, or do I remain asleep in the ground…
