You can tell it’s a 1.3 from the distributor, served my apprenticeship on these

Cracking car back in the day. Transformed Vauxhall's image totally.

My father was a engineer at Opel when these were designed engineered and manufactured.
He was mostly involved in testing ...

I can’t really fault Mk2 Cavs. Hence why I own three of them 😁
I do love these early ones. My oldest is a B-plate GL with the much later 2.0 SRi 130 engine and its a nippy old beasty!
Got to love a Cavvy 👍

My teacher, Mr Burke, had the exact same Cavalier, same colour scheme but it was a saloon 4 door, same year. This was early 90’s. He always drove it like he stole it, always revved it out through the gears.

I live in Johannesburg and I’ve still got my 1983 1600 Cavalier that I brought from Scotland and it’s still running

Identical to my mate keef's one in the 90's. Green on green with a bit more green for good measure. Travelled to many a rave in that car. Hastings pier. No worries rave in Slough, m25 junction parties. Great times. If you find any little squares of paper under the back seat, don't let the dog eat them just in case.

Hatchback cavalier always reminds me of a miniature Rover SD1 in shape which is no bad thing .

I had a Mk1 Cavalier L and loved it so much that I px'd it for a Mk 2 GL. What a mistake that was ... 4 years old it needed serious welding, the steering bar rubbed through a water hose, and the cambelt snapped at 40k miles. Also, the brush velour seats caused static and I was always getting zapped.

Those 8 valvers bring back memories.Easy to work on and bar the cams getting starved of oil very strong engines. The camshaft is easy to change anyway.

My parents had a Vauxhall Cavalier when I was little, it looked like that one except it was blue, the car didn't have any rear seat belts so we had some installed, but they were static ones. The engine would not stay on long when the car was stationary first it started conking out and the eventually shuts off. Sadly we don't have the Cavalier anymore, real shame because I would have liked to drive it.

It dont seem that long a go when you watch old shows like minder and all the cars in the street that's shocking and you know you are getting old I remember the Vauxhall viva rusty after 2 years and bright yellow good old day's

I had an identical Cavalier (mine was a 1.6) which also had the 4-speed. I think it was the higher spec models that had the 5-speed. I'd have one of these again in a heartbeat.

"Joy Riders" in West Belfast, Ireland loved these. Particularly the SRI variants. Easy to steal and went like stink!

Me dad bought a 85 mk2 B reg facelift brand new from Robert Leyland Motors in Nantwich
Never went wrong and did 40, 000 miles on the original tyres then it got punted off at about 5 years old for a 3 year old xr3i from Fords of Winsford
