John Mayer Heartbreak Warfare Effect | Fractal FM3, FM9, & AXE III Tone Tutorial

This is my take on John Mayer’s Heartbreak Warfare effect in the Fractal! For those of you who don’t know, JM used the Roger Linn Adrenalinn 3 on a stock preset (sawtooth modulation and dotted 8th delay). Here’s how you can dial it in on your Fractal!

A key component of it actually sounding right is hitting the trem bar 3 times. There are three “pulses” to the riff, you only play two in the intro demo and pretty much in the lesson part of the video too it’s not addressed nor played consistently (sometimes two, sometimes three).

I like your videos, that is just something rather important to actually doing it properly, hence why it doesn’t sound right when you play it.

John Mayer is a very gifted singer / songwriter and a good guitarist but on this song he does a bad copy of Jeff Beck, that’s all I gotta say.
