I feel as though I should mention that in some interpretations, Hephaestus became lame after *Zeus* threw him off Olympus, ironically for trying to protect his mother Hera during one of their arguments. The more common version is that Hephaestus was born with a disability and Hera threw him off the mountain in disgust. I'm not sure which one Supergiant is following, but I personally think the first is more interesting family-dynamic wise, and makes for better storylines.
