One day, Henry's dad brought home a dog, and Henry's life has been nothing but trouble since.

ITS DONEEE ITS FINALLY DONEEE!!! i swear i have been working on this video for like nearly a YEAR!! More than that actually i finished the storyboard last december lol
this animation is by far one of my favorites ive done in a while, i really really tried with the shading and backgrounds, which are usually my weakest area! i went so far as to make a floorplan of this lad's house so i could get all my angles right!! anyway i hope you enjoy :3

I like how Henry’s first thought after seeing his dad dead and bleeding while on the floor with kellie was that kellie killed him but it could’ve been something else like falling down or an accident but all the negative emotions Henry had towards kellie made him think that Kellie did it on purpose, ignoring kellies shocked and saddened state

I love how its made like a kids cartoon, especially when Henry was right about to confront Kellie. But then everything shattered into real life and turned into more of a horror animation

The end gave me chills, I love how Henry is shocked and frozen in place for just a couple seconds when he notices that his dad was dead, and immediately gets angry like he can’t process his emotions quickly enough, while Kellie is just crying. It really adds that sense of understanding how much it hurt Henry, but also Kellie

dude I LOVE THIS ITS SO SMOOTH. iaughh i cant get over that before the big reveal you can just, feel the emotion of something terrible happening just by the visuals, with the empty room and the shadows in the background, it makes the house seem eerily quiet and desolate, despite the lighthearted sound of the music you managed to fit the mood perfectly, especially with henry calling kellie silly names right before the big reveal, making it feel like he thinks kellie made a mess or broke something but never wouldve geussed killing his dad. ahHHH this is so good, i also noticed your expressions are getting more expressive

Everything in this animation is amazing. But one thing that I absolutely love here is the body language: not just how expressive it is but the fact that it's.. "species accurate". I've seen way too many instances of people either anthropomorphising animal behavior too much or taking "dog language" as universal (eg. tail wagging = happy). But here it's done absolutely right, I especially like the scene where Henry starts flailing his tail (a sign of overstimulation/distress in cats) as he drops the shopping bag. Not just that, this also helps Kellie's acts and presence stand out even more among the rest of the family. Everything is done with so much care and attention to detail and I'm completely obsessed!

i get that kellie couldn't help herself/had no idea what was going on but my god i'm with henry on this one. your parent comes home with an unknown stranger, they're rowdy and wreck up your home life, and then they accidentally kill the same parent that took them in??? it's on sight atp.

That ending.... Poor Henry! Not only was it dark, but I had no idea Kellie had a backstory, one which calls back to another halloween animation.

We already know how brilliant the animation is with the details into the backgrounds and angles, but I want to highlight my favourite part about the ending; the misdirection!

The whole animation was an innocent conflict for a father’s love, with even the events and music being portrayed as harmless! But that’s not all!

The plot points of where we see Henry’s dad being as much of a loving a father to Kellie as with Henry in the past, was all a red herring just to show how good of a father he is too lose.

All the details seemed so innocent I was so like “they’re gonna make up in the end”! Then nearing the ending I was like “aw this is gonna be a heartwarming tender bond” and then “WHAT THE-“

This is how you mislead the viewer and the shock value is priceless, if my shock was a physical object it would be sent to the museum.

Personally i have loved your animation for a while now, and it makes me happy to see how far you've come with animation! I'm trying myself to get better and you bring me IMENSE inspiration!
