Robbing Wham

How Were Kamikaze Pilots Chosen?

In this video:

Napoleon was a lot of things, but modest wasn’t one of them. This is something no better proved than that time he responded to being declared Emperor of the French by planning an elaborate ceremony that would see him stroll around wearing an 80 pound (37 kg) cape… No, that isn’t a typo.

Lord, but that woman could write. She threw some masterful shade when she wanted.

It is strange to me to see how Hollywood rushes to put out movies about Marie Antoinette, but nobody makes movies about Josephine. As a person, Josephine was much more interesting, her life story included a series of tragedies even more intense, and her behavior through it all was just as dignified. Her life was too big for one movie. It needs a trilogy at least.

Now That was both the most heartfelt and sad episodes

That was actually really, really sweet. They could make a beautiful romance novel or movie from this.

Josephine's unconditional love is the only redeemable moment in this drama.

Josephine is a example of humility in the face of something most would become despairing at, she acted with composer never blaming Napoleon but still loving him more than anything in the world. A woman who Napoleon would never leave if it was not for the fact that his empire needed a heir. This story is one of love and love and when all other love with the exception of the love of God's bountiful love, would be lost.

It's so wild to me that I've never heard about these two before, given how obsessive straight people tend to be with historical love stories like this. That said... this is actually gorgeous.

these letters lend quite a different perspective of Napoleon than is otherwise presented by most

Beautifully tragic is the love of a ruler, for someone to bear the love of a ruler one must be able to bear the love of a country, as well as all its misfortunes

Napoleon is still considered a great man in France. I live in Malmaison (mentioned at 10:50) and there are a lot of things around Napoleon and Josephine. It's great to have this History but he is still a dictator after all, killed many many innocents and invaded countries for no reason. Their relationship is very touching and the humanity of Josephine is beautiful.

Always been a fan of Napoleon, and his relationship with Josephine. Really learned a lot in this video.

Such elegant and flowery prose... And the vanishing art of writing letters.

"...Napoleon's Le Petit Caporal not firing enough rounds..." That line was gold, why was it only in the subtitles and not said?

I bet Josephine wrote those "sweet" letters because she was thinking "I better write these idiots something and lay it on thick so nobody cut my head off."

But why don't WE remember Napoleon as a "Roman Emperor"? We remember him as a General of France, not a king, not an Emperor, and certainly not anything to do with Rome.

This is one of my favorites of this series.
