I use ACKS with GURPS for it's domain rules / structure. It's solid.

Very detailed review! It might seem dry for some others but for someone like me who has an academic background, it is just what I love. It would be awesome to know more about dice mechanics though. I have only one gripe though. Why would a system need encounter distance mechanics? Possibilities are endless, it is more efficient to assess the situation to determine the encounter distances.

Lastly, if you haven't checked before and if you have time, you might enjoy Mythras. Developers are medieval enactment artists and they do know how to use most of the weapons explained in the book as well as most cultures.

This sounds amazing to be honest, I was ready to pass on it because the books are so very massive!

One thing I would love to see your opinion on is the "EABA Universal Chart" from the EABA RPG. Porting that to GURPS would be pretty awesome, in my opinion anyway

Land surveying starts with data collection; start with Research, to find what already exsists. Electronics Operation (Scientific) specifically mentions survey gear, while (Sensors) is for interpreting satellite imagery and radar data, and (Surveillance) includes LiDAR-equipped drones, used for surface modeling and elevation. Both of those are useful modern tools, but unnecessary. Before the modern era, Electronics Operation is replaced by a combination of Engineer (Civil, Combat, or Mining) and/or Navigation (Land or Sea). Next up is Mathematics (Surveying); taking the raw measurements and generating the resulting coordinate and elevation measurments, the map's data. Finally, Cartography is making a pretty map with that data. 😁 I do this professionally, and I'm a map nerd. No "land surveying" skill is needed. Thanks for another excellent review.
