What comes first: GTA6 or an AI version of GTA6?

1:37 Imagine playing a game where ammo disappear when you look away.

Dude. We got AI made GTA 6 before GTA 6 dropped.

First they made Doom run on a pregnancy test, now they've made it run on a $500M data center

I'm all for the advancements in AI and automation, but my biggest fear is that we might end up like those who forgot how to build the pyramids. In a sense, we could become so accustomed to these technologies that we take them for granted. For example, we might rely less on our memory because we have GPS, and the same could happen with coding and building complex systems if we solely rely on AI to generate them for us. If there were a catastrophic event, we could face a massive technological reset. There's also the concern that AI might start developing its own code, indistinguishable from our own. It's crucial that we always maintain guardrails and understand how we got here, especially as we evolve and adapt to AI at an accelerating pace.

The dawn of AI-generated games marks a transformative era in gaming technology, representing a monumental leap forward. By leveraging AI to craft real-time content, games can offer an unparalleled level of personalisation, ensuring that every player's player is unique. This shift heralds a new wave of innovation, moving away from static, developer-defined landscapes to dynamic, living worlds that evolve according to individual player choices and preferences. Such advancements promise to enhance the gameplay experience by providing endless possibilities and creative outlets and fundamentally altering how games are conceptualised and developed.

As AI technology continues to mature, its potential to redefine the very essence of gaming is immense. We stand on the brink of a new frontier where storytelling can be as interactive and varied as the players, allowing for deeper emotional engagement and more immersive narratives. The implications extend beyond entertainment, promising to influence sectors like education, simulation, and virtual reality.

The prospect of witnessing these groundbreaking changes fills me with anticipation and excitement. The future promises a landscape where the boundaries between reality and virtual worlds blur, offering experiences limited only by our imagination. It's an exciting time for gamers and developers alike. Greetings from Maidenhead, UK! - Dragon Flame

9:40 The twitches in the eyebrows are part of the original game. It's the game character looking in different directions.

So it's like, LLMs are at the era of pong, snakes and space invaders, and generative AI is at the era of Doom. The question is how fast are they developing and how long will it actually take until they catch up to the state of the art games..

So, if you increase all the variables, resolution, memory, etc and then be able to project in a VR room, you've got the Holodeck from ST:TNG. The scenarios on the Holodeck are essentially prompts given to the computer.

So what your saying is that the model needs an existing game to be trained on, and then can re-create it at significantly reduced performance and quality. None of the content in that Doom re-creation was generated by AI, so to say that this changes how things will be created in the future is a bit of a leap. Please stop spouting nonsense that these AI models are capable of creating content entirely on their own. They can't, they have to be trained on existing content.

So basically you need to first make a video game and then train your AI using that game in order to make the very same game :) What a fantastic idea...:D

Correction: Open AI never DID release Sora (at least publicly)

"We are simply going to ask AI for exactly what we need" That is not easy, to ask for exact things. And then there is the fact that most of the time we don't even know what we need.

I dislike how the gameplay currently is like dreams, where people do and do not have control of their actions and surroundings (like in the end where Doomguy is stuck in the toxin pit, even though players can get out easily, but he just keeps rounding the same corner while dying).

How is this different than any other AI video generators? Was it even player interactive? At the end of the day it's not efficient or even desirable for a game itself to be entirely run on a neural net. AI will be used for creating games, code, content, or even to drive in-game interactions and such, but if what they are showing here is an interactive game that's rendered on the fly by the AI, that's pretty useless imo, maybe for prototyping or something.

I'm SO glad you followed up this morning's video with this one. Thank you for the laser focus on this topic! When will you do a CURSOR Tutorial?

so... they needed to have original Doom, run it milion times to have simulated Doom, but way worse (liquid monsters, strange interactions, missiles disappearing, elements appearing, ...)

But I don't want to play my own AI generated game. I want talented individuals with a creative vision to design immersive experiences, which are the same for me and everyone else who plays the game, and be able to partake in a grand shared experience that we can talk nostalgically about 20 years later.

I mean, it's still cool that AI can generate pixels and stuff. I just don't want to have to sit there using prompts to edit the game as I play, that is not an experience I want. Give me a good story, a good adventure, and good gameplay, and let me enjoy the experience like a dream. Don't make me have to sit there editing my experience.

the processing power required to almost constantly generate something very realistic in real time must be insane, and also getting the response time low at the same time.

“Only limited by the compute”
Not really, also efficiency, power supply and more but yeah exciting times
