Correction, these soles are actually blake stitched. Other versions of Morjas loafers are Goodyear welted.

GYW has no correlation with the type of sole used. Leather soles can be on GYW shoe or a cemented shoe

I think the best way to increase the longevity of leather soles is to add grip on them from a cobbler. Saves you from having to replace the entire sole (or at least prolongs the sole)

What do you mean leather outsoles are goodyear welted? They don’t have to be and rubber outsoles can also be goodyear welted.

Leather vs rubber outsoles are apples and oranges designed for different tasks and walks of life.

Leather soles are generally cheaper than rubber outsoles if a footwear offers both. Vibram outsoles and similar definitely cost more than leather outsoles, just try to get them resoled and you'll see leather sole resoles are cheaper generally.

I hate lugged soles when I see them on shelves, but they look real proper on feet!

Most high quality boots with lug soles have a leather midsole that is welted or had a stitch down construction and then the outsole cemented on, they are still resolvable and last just as long

lug sole can be goodyear welted and leather sole could be glued on too just depends on the manufacturer

From my experiences, a leather outsole is lighter thank a rubber one. Yet I’ve only had cowboy boots, not loafers.

u point out leather sucks. but it's a more expensive thing. just like luxury watches, it serves no other purpose. it;s a flex thing. of course, it does feel different (i prefer foam)
