The new rubber opening replacement is bigger for more air flow. It is suppose to be replaced to get the maximum air flow. I would be happy to take it off your hands for free since you did not use it.

Just installed this part onto my truck along with a borla atak exhaust. If you’re in tune with your truck you’ll feel the difference in air flow and acceleration. I would highly recommend, only took me 35 min to install 😎

This is a great video and it is just as simple as Travis shows you.
Here are my takeaways:
I have an F-150 FX-4 Supercrew 5.0 and was able to install it with a throttle body spacer in place. (it says you can't) just need to wiggle it a little.
I did as suggested and left the factory cold air inlet in place however, I drove it like that for six months and then replaced it with the S&B inlet and IMO there is, in fact, a difference in power and fuel mileage in my case I saw a 2.5-3mpg increase. I also purchased an additional filter and you might want to consider the same. The reason being is cleaning the filter is somewhat tedious and takes time. I can switch them out as needed. Keep in mind it takes about 24hrs for your filter to dry out after washing and then you have to oil it. I like the quality of this product over the competition and with the throttle body spacer, Ford Performance Mustang 5.0 coil packs, and the S&B CAI it absolutely helped with my fuel economy.

Why are there so many people out there behind their keyboards screaming that cold air intakes suck and don't do anything? It's like some weird cult. I've seen people say they don't show any improvement on a dyno yet here you show some pretty awesome gains. I'd imagine the mpg's go up as well.
