The Forester for 2020 is a brand new model and now into its 5th generation. Starting from €45,545, the version in this review is an XE Premium model and costs from €49,245.

There's no diesel option anymore, instead, Subaru have fitted a mild (very mild) hybrid setup to the car's 2.0 petrol engine which to be fair combined with a permanent AWD system, delivers reasonably decent fuel economy.

Thanks Nobby, a much anticipated review from an Irish perspective on this car. I've been waiting for this to see what you thought of it, after moving from a Legacy tourer diesel to a Honda CRV AWD due to the Boxer diesel crankshaft issue, this one os now on my shortlist for the next car. The fuel consumption is a little high and will struggle to compete with the Rav 4 hybrid but as you say, Subaru is not for the masses and its always nice having a car that not too many people on the road have which is definite when you own a Subaru

Subaru Style doesn't say much But when I drive it Says alot about the performance and the Handling are very close to the Luxury cars. It's very affordable to own One 😀👍💟

good advertising of Subaru Forester but when your driving we want to see the front dashboard and front visibility in general try to set the camera on that, and not your face coz we can still hear you while we get to see front dash

It's missing a trademark Subaru scoop! Had an 01 forester turbo, God it liked petrol, but sounded good!

Why do the Japanese manufactures use CVT gearboxes? They make the car sound awful! This sounds pretty quiet until you accelerate! Can you switch off the beeps things? That is what most people do! :-)

Too much chrome on the outside. Bring back the colour coded door handles and remove the chrome from around the windows, it doesn't need it.

Subaru have ruined every model since this one with the big hideous portrait touchscreen. This interior is far classier. Im sick of the obsession with big screens in cars. They are distracting and ugly.
