Libertatia: Pirate Utopia | The Pirates Port

It’s common knowledge that Golden Age pirates were big on personal freedoms, democracy, and equality. Today I’ll be talking about the legendary pirate utopia called Libertatia. I’d like to take a moment to explain that there is no solid evidence Libertatia actually existed, but that doesn’t mean that it didn’t exist either.

Regardless of the "scholars" think there most likely was a pirate base that operated like a free community. Those pirates may have called it Libertatia or something similar. Speaking as a humble pirate myself I do not outright discount historical accounts of people, place or things just because there isn't enough evidence at the moment to support it. Sometimes the stories past down are based on a factual events. It is a tropical location so anything wooden probably vanished long ago. Enjoyed the video mate!

The section of henry avery in a general history speaks of a extremely similar tale of libertatia being the place he settled down in after the gunsway heist. This is obviously highly unlikely but it is interesting the amount of variation in the tales of this mythical place even during the period it was happening.

Have you ever considered a video on how the pirates interacted with the various Indian tribes that lived on the islands? Would they have been any different than any other Europeans?
