Quick tip for telling the difference between creek chub and fallfish: creek chub will always have a black spot at the base of the dorsal fin.

They're different species, within the same genus. Large species of minnows.

By guy Jon B, you should try creek fishing with a 5'5" or even 4'7" rod. It is an absolute blast!
