Excellent wonderful clip! I see the Carpeners site version and the one with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra version, I just heard, boughjt CD and vinyl of and recommend, don't allow commenting. I wonder why not. I've always been a major Carpenters fan, I'm a 57 year old hopeless romantic who never found real romance. I heard the lyric about it being 4 am and wide awake with not a friend in sight and I thought "it's almost three am, I'm alone here, wide awake without a friend in sight; despite how the difference is I don't ask perfection of this world." Anyway long I've Richard Carpenter and the Carpenters' music! Rest In peace to Karen!

I had college friends that had seen Karen in concert at Carnegie Hall in 1971. I always assumed I too would get to see her in concert, someday.
I remember how I could recognize her unique voice on the radio by hearing just one syllable --- we were frequently scanning the airwaves eager to hear the latest release.
The song remembers when....I took a red-eye on a Western Airlines DC 10 (depicted in this video) in the late '70's from Vegas to MSP. Great airline of that era, also vanished.
