Faceting gemstones, cutting small stones

This video describes the cutting and polishing of faceted gemstones. I cut a stone from start to finish. This is a hobby for me but i would like to see others get interested in it. I try to give tips and advice in each video to help others or beginners. Im in the USA. Im also a member of the United states faceters guild.

I have tried several times to cut a Montana Sapphire and failed. After watching your video I have cut two Montana sapphires both a round brilliant cut with no problems. They both measured 4mm when finished and looked great thank you so much for the help I never would of did it with out your video I was over cutting on the break and star facets.

I like this video. I've cut four small Montana Sapphires and really like the way that you cut P2 with the machine stopped... Good advice! I also noted that you cut the break facets with the LL 3K prepolish lap... That's another "tip" that I'll use in the future.

For someone who is interested in getting into lapidary where should I start? There doesnt seem to be many classes or apprenticeships around. Is it something that you just buy the equipment and experiment with? Also I love your videos. They're informative and not drawn out. Keep them coming! :)

I’ve had to cut really small stones to fit existing mountings. The smallest was a round blue zircon. Final diameter was only .89mm in order to match the other in the ring.

Hello Sr. I am looking information how to hold a small stone to facet whiteout loosing it, I am traying to cut 1 x 0.8mm rectangular stones, what is the best way to hold ... some type of cold glue, heated treatment glue, some special wax ? i hear about some two compound glue and goes to oven at 180 degrees por some hours. can you help me to achieve this cutting prosses i am learning this faceting world. thank you on advance
