I am Armenian, and I remember growing up as a child watching My Dad playing the game, both him and whichever of his Armenian Friends he would play Tavli with, they both bang those checkers on the board when it came time to move them. And like most Armenians, they would always argue where those checkers are supposed to be located. Whenever a game would be interrupted, oh boy! Another argument would ensue about where everything was set before the game was stopped and who’s turn it was.

Armenians went nuts for this game then.

Now I know the real name of the game: Tavli, which exactly translates into spanish as Tabla, which is exactly what it is!! A more proper name than backgammon, to me at least. Backgammon is an english name and that is ok for our anglo fellows. So now let's play TABLA!
