It's a '69. For some reason it has a mix of non-SS Malibu parts on it and Super Sport Chevelle parts all mixed together. It has the SS hood, grille, side stripe and badges.

However, the lower body painted Argent Silver is a Malibu-only paint style. That is because unlike on an SS, a Malibu had trim pieces that followed that entire lower body line from the front grille all the way back to the rear bumper, just like it did on 1968 Chevelles (including the 1968 SS Chevelles).

So 1969 Malibus could have that Argent Silver paint on the lower body below that trim, but neither the trim pieces nor the Argent Silver paint were available on 1969 SS Chevelles. This car has that Argent Silver paint, but not the Malibu trim pieces that should follow that lower body line and divide the Argent Silver paint and the blue paint on the rest of the car.

This car also has the "Malibu" badge on each rear quarter right in front of the side marker light. Then that rear panel between the trunk lid and the rear bumper is painted Argent Silver like it would be on a Malibu, but it has the "SS 396" badge. On a real SS car, that panel would be painted black instead of Argent Silver.

This car also has the steel wheels with "dog dish" hubcaps which were only available on a non-SS Malibu.

Back then All Auto makers had their own Styles. Nowadays all cars look the same (Generic).
