Honestly the inside of that boat looked like an RV. That's quite a bit of cheddar for what is really just a weekend boat. No davit is hard to explain for a 53' boat. Great video guys! Keep em coming!

For a (partially) solar powered Loop capable take a peek at a Greenline 48 coupe. Starts at $760k new, 3 staterooms and heads, 3'1" draft, 15'8" beam, 11'6" waterline to the top of the roof so add about 3' for electronics. It's hybrid power like a Prius or Volt. I haven't really looked to see if any are on the used market. Regarding the Silent-Yachts, you might be able to find a used S-Y 55 for sale from someone who is trading up, that would have the bridge clearance but at 27'7" beam would be a _VERY_ questionable one to do the Canadian leg of the Loop!

Hate to jump on the anti-pod drive bandwagon but a good friend with a 55 Prestige takes it back and forth from Naples to NJ every year. Helost one of his IPS drives just out of Morehead City NC a few years ago. Total nightmare with disputes about salvage, recovery, etc. Ultimately got it fixed and working OK but it was months and many $$ to get addressed even with insurance. All boat mechanics I’ve discussed with advise against pod drives. Don’t want to be a wet blanket but thought I should share my thoughts. Originally I was a big fan of pod drives but have come full circle. Also make sure you’re aware of the very high maintenance costs of pods.

While I’m on a roll what fuel economy do you expect? When you look at fuel capacity, it seems you look negatively on capacities less than 500 gallons. Worst case that should get you 250 miles with a 10% cushion. Where on the loop would that be an issue unless you’re planning to go down the Mississippi all the way to the Gulf?

Good luck with your search! I love the videos.

The mirror on the grill is a HEAT DEFLECTOR.

Check out the Nordhavn 59 Coastal Pilot. Can do the Great Loop and great for after.

It was a cool looking boat but far too narrow. It reminds me a lot of a Beneteau Swift Trawler which you might want to checkout the 53. Also Grand Banks Aleutian models up to 63’. I still want you to checkout the 60 Viking CMY that I have linked a couple of times now.

Ha! I was first like ... lol love this boat btw - but I like the Euro look and minimalism ... on my top 5 list - add the electric flap stabs, but I agree with your observations - it just misses on some of the elements

Volvo invented the IPS drive so you can be pretty sure that all IPS drives are Volvo.
