Thanks for the video! About the mouse movement to change note durations, in sibelius and in musescore; probably in Dorico too, you can change the note by using the numbers in your keyboard, it is faster than using the mouse

One thing you can do is drag the horizontal menu on the top of MuseScore to the side which would solve your problem about going up and down.

I go way back to Encore in the 90's, started using Finale in the late 90s. I write mostly orchestral music. I recently switched to Dorico (5). I tried MS, it['s great. However, so far NO ONE beats Dorico's print output in my opinion. It creates publisher quality manuscript with little hassle.

Thanks for the review, Eric. You were spot on. The third-party sound package called Note Performer creates, IMHO, a sound palette similar to the MS 4. Worth checking out for those interested in Dorico. I use the professional version of Dorico - expensive (about the same as the Sibelius cost), but it's much better to create the richness of orchestral pieces. Like your channel!

is it a problem on my end or is his voice not synced with his cam?

While I would like to give Dorico 4 SE a serious try, I constantly get frustrated by how slow it is. Clicking everything takes 1-2 seconds to register. I also don't have much screen space available, as the thing seems to be made with only 4K displays in mind and the interface alone steals about 40% of the screen space I have. And there's no option anywhere to change it. Also, I'm not so sure they've addressed some of the issues Tantacrul mentioned in his video. There are things you can easily do in Musescore and other software that requires several steps in Dorico due to how inflexible the notation system is.

Musescore 4 sounds are better than Dorico 4 and the Musescore 4 mixer using other VST instruments is more reliable in terms of playback. It pretty much kills Dorico in my opinion unless you use Cubase and like the communication between those programs. Musescore just needs the ability to do vst articulations set swaps. It's almost perfect!

I worked with sibelius for a little bit... and just got so insanely frustrated as I just could not find anything I needed... It might be true that musescore is slower... I can´t tell cause I didn´t feel like googling for house before being able to even properly work on a single project... and that is kinda what it feels like...

At least that was my expierience.

As for putting things onto the side, you can do that in musescore, as all the menu parts are possible to rearange

Great Video, buy I don't have a notation software and I'm using Logic Pro. Will Dorico work with Logic Pro if I don't haze Cubase?

With the update to Dorico 5.1, I think that MuseScore 4 and Dorico 5.1 will be much more prevalent in the future! There will be 4 big notation softwares instead of just 2 in Finale and Sibelius.

I have Dorico Pro 4, and do prefer it over MuseScore in general, despite the sound that you mentioned. However, MuseScore 4 is a wonderful improvement over previous versions, and would recommend it to all my musician friends who would not need all the advanced features that Dorico has. If they need all the advanced features of a professional notation software, I'd choose Dorico every time.

Seriously, Dorico is the only application professionals should be considering using today. You've just scratched the surface of its capabilities here. It's an amazing piece of software that will let you work incredibly fast, and do anything you might want to do. The software team that developed it is brilliant, and it's well supported by Yamaha/Steinberg. Dorico is the future.

Also, the instructional videos that Dorico produces in-house are absolutely top-notch. You can truly master using this application from watching the videos.

All other score notations programs have become a thing of the past with the advent of Dorico 5, They have 2 options, evolve or perish, that's the rules of the game.

Wow, only 10 minutes to get this thing downloaded/installed? I have been at this for an hour! Still no luck. What a piece of garbage.
