The Healing Power of Afflictions | David Wilkerson

God uses afflictions to draw us into his Word so we can allow him to deal with the issues of our heart. If we don’t see God in ALL of our circumstances, the good and the bad, our faith will crash. God is not with us despite our failure, sin and slothfulness; he is with us because of them. God's tender mercies are above all his works. Go to the Lord with an open heart and let him love you through your pain and suffering.

I am in a wheelchair for 2 years now. I have ALS. My precious Lord gave me a vision as he healed my lung hemorrhage. Jesus saved my life. Hallelujah! I asked why I have ALS and a Bible verse came to me. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. I understand completely that God‘s purposes are served when we endure our suffering.
What is extremely difficult to believe, and I deal with this daily, is that God would ever allow me to succeed or prosper in anything.
I was brought up with old line Penecostal influences. From that I was taught that any personal desire, interest, preference, passion, or even a sense of purpose, was profoundly wrong. So much so that these things needed to be completely destroyed. Because that’s the only way to live crucified life for Christ.
By doing this, my life has been absolutely destroyed.
I don’t know if there is recovery from this
That’s a story and a message for another day.
All I know now, is a life of discouragement, disappointment, and desperation.
I know of no one in ministry who has ever properly taught what laying down one’s life actually means. The only thing I’ve ever known that it could mean, is that I am to destroy my life. What else can it mean when the call is to crucify my life?
Nobody, and I mean, absolutely no one in ministry, opens this up and explains this.

Ive said before Lord you must love me a lot. Because im always being corrected disciplined and chasened. Well the more i ask to be truly like Jesus and mean it the hotter the fire the more soap and scrubbing God will go as deep as will let Him and once He knows we won't take off and leave Him when it gets really rough. Then the fire really comes and we think for sure were dead this time no hope no recovery impossible to much damage to much hidden sin and faults. Well, to be made into the image and likeness of Jesus is not magic. it's death to the flesh pride and everything that's interfering with our relationship with God. We want to be Holy filled with His anointing to minister life and the gospel to the unsaved. To see people delivered healed and born-again well. Welcome to the school of pain, suffering, and trials. But always remember He will only intrust this type of preparation to those who He knows won't quit on Him in the middle of battle and breaking this is an honor, but in the middle of it were blind and don't see a way out. but after we will be very greatfull.
