Peshtigo Fire

It burned around 1.5 million acres, killed over a thousand people, and ranks as the deadliest wildfire in history. Yet it is largely forgotten, because it happened the same night as the Great Fire of Chicago.

Drawing from the tales of survivors, contemporary newspaper accounts and more, I'll tell the story of the Peshtigo Fire.

Thank you for shedding light on this little know, yet terribly destructive, fire. I look forward to hearing more from your channel.

There were also fires in Lower Michigan, across Lake Michigan- all essentially caused by severe drought and the winds

Good for you, including Kewaunee and Door counties
Note that to get to Door County etc the fire had to cross Green Bay which around Peshtigo is nearly 20 miles wide
