LightTPD Vs. Apache

preview_player
Показать описание
Faster lighter and with better threading, LightTPD is superior to Apache in almost every way, (except for some issues with URL re-writes), but it doesn't have the testing and support that Apache does. So while most LAMP stack software will run on LightTPD, if it doesn't work quite right you may be left high and dry.

@BlackwaterOpsDotCom Apache was based on NCSA code (which was based on CERN code) which was written for UNIX OS' not Linux based distributions. They might have developed Apache on Linux but it did not require Linux as 1.0 ran on almost any OS. In 2001 Apache was rewritten and legacy code was removed.

@gavin3191 I said that There are small differences which I would have to debug if I switched. That means Man hours. A Ferrari is faster than a go-kart, but I can keep a Go-kart running I can't fix a Ferrari

@m1kl0s Apache is "For" linux. The first version only ran on linux. and Linux is an OS and a kernel.

@kylepolansky Mono allows you to run .Net 1 and 2 on Linux. It works fairly well, but you can't access some of the .dll's that you can on Windows and you can't talk to Windows Com Objects. So it is not 100% compatible.

@DocTyrell You mean "Lighty" Because Light-TPD was the original name and Lighty became short hand for that later. Explaining to people that the PD is silent is weird.

@m1kl0s In 1995 when I did my first Apache install it only worked on Linux. Version 1.0 was YEARS in to the product release. The very Nature of "A-Patchy" was that it wasn't meant to be a product it was supposed to just be a "Fix" I was a contributing member to the original product, I'm well aware of it's origin.

Infact, even some of my Win Servers in our Atlanta, GA Datacenter @ AtlantaNAP we have instances we've permitted Apache over IIS.

Currently struggling with FreeBSD 12.1 and lighttpd with mod_cgi and mod_ssl. I'm trying to get a response string out of a submit form but it throws out illegal characters with it, leading to 400/bad request. It's caused at the submission of <textarea> multi-line input box value. Normal 1-line input fields have no problems...
The lighttpd forum mail registration is irresponsive...

@BlackwaterOpsDotCom Apache is NOT Linux.

Linux is a kernel - not an OS.

Apache was written for UNIX based OS' - not Linux.

Can lighttpd read the unmodified apache http.conf configuration file. That's all I give a damn about. I don't want to have to totally hack and rewrite a configuration file.

@DocTyrell Say why or you are just trolling. I'm always willing to learn, or to trash the crap out of a troll.

I recommend you to try out TeamSpeak and learn that all Linux run same software :>

@BlackwaterOpsDotCom Dude Linux is NOT an OS - it is purely a kernel - that's an indisputable fact. If you can't understand this simple thing then you shouldn't be making videos about it.
