Parkside Performance 12v Drill. Faulty unit? Check the sound

I found that the Parkside Performance PBSPA C3 12v drill is a nice tool... if you manage to get a good unit. It seems many others reported a similar situation, at least with the first units. Perhaps it's now fixed.

Bad units are not as easy to spot because they do still work. They just happen to perform worse and will likely start failing within weeks or months or having them.

Luckily Lidl's customer service is pretty good and you can ask for a new unit or get a refund. I did, and this is how they compare.

To check if your unit is faulty pay attention to the sound. If you noticed the sound to be louder and more high-pitched that expected, perhaps with a bit of oscillation in the sound, specially when the trigger is not fully pressed you might have a bad unit.
Good units are not as loud and the sound is more continuous, lower pitched and without that high frequency oscillation.

If you get a good unit, enjoy this little tool. Ever since I got it I barely use the 20v drill at all. When screwing with the 2ah battery and without the chuck weights ~750g. Just the 4ah battery of my 20v drill weights about the same.

Had the Same Problem. The rotor was rubbing on the windings.
