Cherry-Time (a Fairy Poem)

Cherries of the night are riper
Than the cherries pluckt at noon
Gather to your fairy piper
When he pipes his magic tune:
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter
For the eater
Under the moon.
And you’ll be fairies soon.

In the cherry pluckt at night,
With the dew of summer swelling,
There’s a juice of pure delight,
Cool, dark, sweet, divinely smelling.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter
For the eater
In the moonlight.
And you’ll be fairies quite.

When I sound the fairy call,
Gather here in silent meeting,
Chin to knee on the orchard wall,
Cooled with dew and cherries eating.
Merry, merry,
Take a cherry;
Mine are sounder,
Mine are rounder,
Mine are sweeter.
For the eater
When the dews fall.
And you’ll be fairies all.

OH MY HEAVENS I LOVED THIS ONE. IT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION WITH CHERRIES ALSO PURPLE IS MY FAVORITE TOO AS TREES FROM MY WORLD ARE PURPLE ITS TRUE THE SKIES ARE PURPLE WITH PINK STREAKS NOT BLUE AND CHERRY TREES SO SWEET AND KISSED BY FAIRIES AND ANGELS TO GIVE THE SWEETNESS AND SOUR ONES TOO NOT A BAD ONE EVER ITS. A STAPLE OF LIFE. TAKE 2 IN THE MORNING TO SETTLE THE TUMMU TAKE THREE AT NOON TO CLEAR UP THE SINUSES. NARY A BAD ONE EVER BEEN FOUND THE FINEST OF FRUIT PRAISES WE SING THEY GIVE OUR HEARTS A FLING.

Fairy dust, give it thrice.

Dance around the Moonlight Hall.
Prance around this fairy ball.

Flower petals, and fairy cheer.
For the gift is very near.

Interlock our fingers, flap our wings.
Oh sweet melody, fairy sings.

Pick the cherries throw them in.
grab the fae dust make a ring.

Moonlight, moonlight, come to me.
cheer and laughter, for fae to see.

Moonlight, moonlight let me see.
The faest fairy I could be.

Grow me wings and lend me magical dust.
Forrest tree will grow robust.

Moonlight, moonlight hear me call.
Grant my wish among this fairy ball.
