In this video we'll look at some rocks I've had in my basement for well over a year, but the algae is still living. I treat with H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) and the immediate reaction proves the algae is still alive.

That's a cool looking rock dan .... you know the rocks I have in my tropheus tank ? If I take them out and bleach them would I be able to use them in a saltwater set up or should I buy new ones ???

Ofc you get a reaction lol, the bleach is not only reacting with living algea, it starts bubling cause the bleach is reacting with the organic mater on the rock. But you are spot on with your conclusion that some algea is still alive and will regrow once under the right conditions. Some Algea are damn hard to kill at all.
As allways great vid with usefull information! Thx

Dan: do you find that UVC sterilizers have worked to keep your tanks disease free (or limited)?

If i purchase "Hydrogen Peroxide 3% Food Grade", will that give the same result as I'm not able to find same hydrogen peroxide as you are using, Please guide.

I know bleach kills mold very fast (minute) so I would of sprayed the rock with bleach leave it on for a few mins. Wash it off. Then let it dry overnight. Should be good as new. Bleach evaporates it would be safe to go back in the tank after that. I would still make sure and wash it good though.
