Super typhoon Meranti, with a maximum speed of 40-50 meters per second, blew off a plane parked at the Xiamen airport when it landed in the city on Thursday.
Photos taken by witnesses show that the head of plane dashed into a green belt at the airport, damaging its guardrail. Its tail was intersected with another plane. Staff members of the Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering had tied the plane body to a fixed device in case of strong wind.
