Alpine's iLX-W770 digital media receiver puts a nice touchscreen in your dash, and works with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You'll also get a big step up in sound quality, and room to add on or build a full system.

The iLX-W770 builds on the success of Alpine's iLX-W670 receiver by adding wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can leave your phone in your pocket and still get your familiar controls up on the screen. The 6.75-inch touchscreen looks good any time of day, and it's responsive and snappy to use.

Alpine hangs its hat on sound quality, and the iLX-W770 will outperform most factory radios right out of the box. A nice suite of sound-shaping tools helps you dial in a sound that's perfect for your particular ride, including DSP tools like digital time alignment. Car audio is full of compromises, but Alpine's sonic toolbox helps overcome them.

Like the iLX-W670, the iLX-W770 can bolt one of Alpine's Power Pack mini-amplifiers right to the back, giving you 50 watts RMS x 4 channels for speakers, or 200 watts x 1 for a subwoofer. That simplifies your installation immensely, since you don't have to find a place somewhere in the cabin to mount the amp and run power to it.

I got a pioneer double din from Walmart and I really like it and I enjoy the dvd player in it and I really am thinking of learning to do custom installs because I enjoy doing it so I like to learn everything about it thanks for the information and great videos.

I am comparing the 670 vs the 770, I know you say “wireless” - I don’t necessarily want to have the stereo replicate my phone functions, but I do want to play applemusic through it via bluetooth. Is it possible to do that with 670 or do I have to physically plug the phone into it? I just want to play music, not maps or anything

Wireless CarPlay occasionally lags and disconnects, the CarPlay app crashes, then it reconnects. It’s really annoying and honestly expected more from a $500 unit

Looks outdated as most of these units From Alpine, Pioneer and Kenwood. Android units are getting a lot better with better displays ans better functionality. They gotta up their game in all departments.

I'd disagree. I still burn my own cd's and jammin' my Alpine's from the late 80's early 90's. I don't even have an MP3 player. Cd's and cassettes for me.

These manufacturers are out of touch when compared to Chinese manufacturers with Android, larger and better display, more responsive and much more.
