Listening and reflecting on relationships with several narcs, I'm thinking, "always have respect for myself", so why on earth would I even desire to prolong the misery of a relationship with one? Everything that can be used to maintain a position of respect in the eyes of a narc is now all the more reason to have no desire to be involved in any kind of way with one.
I totally get that sometimes, we can't just pack up and leave (I've been totally and permanently disabled because of a violent one since I was almost 30, and I'm now 65), and those baby steps are necessary, but darn if I'm not ever so much more careful today to run in the opposite direction once I've seen that they're a narc. I cut off all contact with one in my religious group and no longer attend any of the zoom meetings because of the adoration he still got from others who had never been in a dating relationship with him.
I could go on forever about this, so I'll stop. Thank you so much for your informative and encouraging videos.
