Try ctrl E - Unsubdivide if you want to save topology, but try this if it doesnt matter to you

Actually Ctrl E > Un-Subdivide is the first thing to try in this case, with Limited Dissolve you ruin the topology

Looks like it leaves a lot of ngons though. It's been over a decade since I worked in 3d - has the smoothing over ngons been solved since then, or do they still cause errors?
