This video explains the use of Tranexamic Acid in Epistaxis in the emergency department setting. It is short, thorough, and easy to follow.
The pieces of equipment needed:
Nasal Speculum
Bayonet Forceps
4*4 Gause
10 ml Syringe
Any gauge size needle
Medicine cups
Tranexamic Acid either in:
Liquid format:
usually comes in 100mg/ml (10 ml needed)
Tablet format:
You need to crush the tablet (1000mg) and dilute it in 10ml Normal saline
Before you start, make sure you take the consent from the patient.
