In this Diwali series, I'm eating different Diwali snacks, foods & sweets to see which ones spike my blood sugar levels a little too much, so I know what to avoid. Aim is to track blood sugar variability and to stay within normal sugar levels as much as possible. Am sharing my experiences.

Please do note: I'm not a diabetic, or even a pre-diabetic. And I hope to stay that way by avoiding insulin resistance. These are my continuous glucose monitor readings (CGM), and everyone's readings can be different.

I think the ranking is correct. Kheer has white rice, which is high on the glycemic index when compared to Gulab Jamun. Also the Gulab Jamun will provide more fat and protein to reduce sugar absorption.

Would be interesting to see the healthier versions of the same foods made with for example dates or jaggery instead of sugar and then compare.

Sir, can you please take your food around night time or dinner time and then show us the spike in sugar levels. You do all your experiments around the same time 2pm-4pm and it seems the spike won't be much....

I make kheer with stevia but it still feels heavy do I stopped making it now. I made gulab jaman with fruit sugar syrup made at home. It came out lighter than kheer. I think because kheer has rice which are very high in carbs that made it so unhealthy. Gulab Hamsun is basically dry milk balls fried and then dipped in sugar syrup so that makes a bit difference.
