Very nice selection of decluttering books. Sometimes we just hold onto books for sentimental value, when we really have no intention of reading or rereading them.

I actually have a few really terrible books on my shelves which I keep them just because their covers are so beautiful. And I just kind of like the idea of lining my entire apartment with crammed bookshelves, haha

I think un-hauls are really good. I don't think I have reached a point in my book buying obsession that I need to do one, but there might be one in my future. I am glad you donated them, I am sure that there are some people that will love those books! :D Great video!

I actually do an un-haul every year around this time because I take them back to my hometown with me to a used book store where I get credit for them. It is wonderful. I am not otherwise bothered by a huge TBR pile. I have hundreds of books and have slowly accumulated the shelves to store them on. It's like a mini library and I love it. I suppose I am more into collecting books than most people.

I have five bookshelves full of books. Every once in awhile, I will look at my shelves and decide that I don't have enough room for new books, and I trade in the ones I don't care for, or don't feel like rereading again, at my local used bookstore. I actually did that a week ago and got a really sweet box set of 3 volumes of 1Q84 instead of the gigantic intimidating beast of a paperback. :D
Also, I wasn't a huge fan of Across the Universe. The premise was good, but some parts of it were incredibly off putting.

I just pulled like 20 books off my shelf to unhaul. It's a hard process but you feel so good after its done!

I've been doing this kind of thing a lot. I used to keep every single book I bought even if I hated it, but now I just donate them. On the bright side though, it always gives me more space for new books I'll actually read.

I've been reading just my thr shelf and I'm down to 2 books! I'm really proud of myself, and I feel so much better now. And some of the books that were sitting there unread are my new favorites.

I'm surprised a lot of people don't like the Ruby Red trilogy. I loved them! I even marathoned them a few years ago. The author's new series is also a lot of fun, though I don't think it's been translated into English yet. I get why you couldn't get into Across The Universe, tho. It took me three weeks to read and at first I was so weirded out by the plot. But once I got into the story, I really loved it. I have the sequel waiting for me on my shelf. :)

I'm donating my Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. I really enjoyed the series in middle school, but I haven't read them since then. And if I do ever want to re-read them, there's always the library. :)

I've been trying to shrink my TBR pile by reading and focusing on those books that I already own, but that hasn't happened much. Haha, I've been buying a lot of books and am currently reading through Harry Potter for the first time (I know it's terrible! I grew up watching the movies!) and I am loving it! I'm reading Deathly Hallows and am almost done with it. Already shed a few tears! Can't believe I'm almost done with the series - I really don't want it to end!

omg absolutely, i basically got rid of the ENTIRE Anne rice collection that i assembled through mostly thrift stores. Bought a bind up of the first three, and got rid of 19 books.

I admire you of doing that because I really think I just wouldn't have the courage to get rid my books but good for you!!
