“Is it still overconsumption if I’m the one being consumed?” 😂😂

consistently having a book cover on the screen while you're talking about them is such a slay

I feel like you should have a “hated books” shelf just so you can look at it and rage😭

My library worker heart really appreciated your note on libraries. 1) a lot of people don’t know you can donate books to your local library 2) just a humble note to anyone who has ever had the random thought that you aren’t “needy” enough to use the library. I’ve had several people tell me they don’t use their library for fear of taking resources. Sure, maybe if you’re a billionaire, but being an active user of your library is so so good for library systems and helps us make sure we can be around for years and years to provide the community with resources!!

Nothing hurts me more than wasted potential in books! It makes me want to rewrite the concept and make it what I wanted it to be.

lexi i say this with love and light and warmth you should do a video clearing out your goodreads tbr shelf

Just a silly simple thing, but I love the fact that you keep the book cover pic up in the screen the whole time you’re talking about it. Please keep doing that, cause it’s a little frustrating when people show the book for a second and then talk about it for five minutes without ever mentioning the title again. You do so many things in your videos so well and they’re so easy to watch and listen to, but I just wanted to highlight this thing in particular. Thanks for all you do!

I feel always so vindicated when you don’t like a book that I also didn’t like but it’s widely loved

I also enjoy keeping books I absolutely hated because one of my favorite things to do is hate tab them and then rant to my nonreader roommate about them in the kitchen :D

As a librarian, I am a big personal believer in only owning books that are definite comfort rereads for me. Everything else is a library trip away. Also shout out to ILL! Ask your local library about their inter-library loan options, especially if your local library is smaller.

as somebody who is just now getting out of a huge reading slump with not a penny to my name to buy all the books i want to read at 150 mph, your conclusion about libraries really, truly helped quell some of that uncertainty about not necessarily physically owning books to consider yourself a reader. thanks lexi!!

I feel so validated by you saying the “Mid life of Middie la Mid”

In addition to donating books, I love giving books I know I won't re-read to my local little libraries! We have a ton and it's so fun walking past during the month and seeing what people have taken

I work at a used bookstore and we have SO many copies of all the books in your "misc. fiction" section lol. you've curated a collection of perfectly mid books

I actually gasped when I saw A Study in Drowning cover pop up on the screen. Prank successful.

When lexi said "ooh, I found some tabs" I feel like I got a dopamine hit by osmosis 😂

I am trying to get back into reading and have been for months. It's a lot harder than I thought as an adult- I just turned 30.
I read hundreds of books throughout my childhood/teenagehood as a form of escapism from ny traumatic home situation. Now that I have my own, cozy home and a loving spouse I can't get myself to focus on anything except audiobooks.
I put them on in the background when I'm doing something around the house or doing my hobbies. I love that I found this channel because I feel like we're going on a reading journey together. Here's to books 🥂
