It sounds like some kind of lava level, maybe it's a remnant from when this level was called Lava Mines, but later it was connected to the level from hub 4 (yes, there were originally 5 hubs)called Cave Under The Falls

I love all the Jak and Daxter stages but this one is probably my least favorite. However, it's still a really good stage and great music.
